Factory sub location

Do all HHR's (even if the are not equipped with premium sound) have the factory 8" sub mounting location. I have a 2010 LT without the premium sound and i was wondering if i could use that location for a Alpine Type-R 8" sub. I know I will have to cut out the plastic, but I was curiouse if anyone knows this, or am I going to have to go pull all the rear trim off to find out.

Also I see alot of people using the Kicker CVR 8" in place of the factory speaker, how much room is there? and could a Type -R 8" fit in that location, if it even exists.

I would really like to use that location if i could to allow more room for cargo, plus ti will be real clean and look stock.

I have used 6 1/2". The stupid speaker that came with the unit, you can cut them from the mounts and use the plastic mounts and mount you aftermarket speakers directly in to them. if you want a sturdier sound, dynamatt the door around the speaker and mount directly to the door itself. Make sure you seal up the excess hole.

The factory sub isn't mounted to the car, the sub and amp are mounted to a box, which is mounted to the car.

This is what it looks like

And this is where it goes

Here's another question for you. If I were to replace the stock sub with a Kicker CRV or CVT (just the speaker) what ohm speaker should I use? (i.e., what is the ohms of the stock sub?)

You could buy the factory enclosure from an auto wrecker and then modify it for your sub and amp.......
