Seemed you were asking somebody that has not been around for a while a question.

I know there is voluminous info available here. Try "radio buttons" in the search box. There is at least one thread with more than 100 posts in it.

 

It should be plug and play.

 

You guys didn't mention or describe how to snake volume control wires from radio in thru steering column. I am assuming this mod added volume controls to your steering wheel and not upgrading existing. Thanks.

 

Had you waded through the how-to Thread you wouldn't be saying that.

 

the harness that you change is short and plugs into the clock spring. you don't even have to take the steering wheel off.

 

I did not have to snake any wires, they were in place when I received the wheel.

 

Can I ask what the clock Spring is?

Clock spring is #15. A little hard to describe, but it is the connection between the steering wheel buttons and the column wiring.

So it's the main connector behind the wheel so the wheel does have to come off?
I purchased a Cobalt wheel and am getting ready to start this in a few days.
My concern is since I'm trying to replace my stock 2008 LS wheel the wiring down the column won't be there. I have the stock non pioneer system in my hhr.
So I'm not sure what to do if there isn't any connector, harness or any wiring for the radio controls.
My plan was to install the wheel get a after market unit.
Crutchfield told me I'd need a radio button conversion module.
But I'm totally blind since I haven't taken the wheel off yet.
