I'm not so sure on the harness...I don't know if GM changed anything in 06, but from 02 and up you needed an interface for the chime and acc. power.



That is what the radio harness looks like...2 harnesses and the antenna plug. Not sure what wiring harness will work with it from Metra...

I haven't seen a chime module that will work with the 2006 HHR yet, but yes you will need one if you want to keep them.

and the chime module is the thing that will beep at me if I have low fuel, dont put my seatbelt on, or have "ice possible"?

Yup, they are all linked together through the stereo system. The chime module is an interface that you wire into your stereo set up to retain those features.

There's an interface that Metra makes that lets you retain the information center through an aftermarket display (goes under the DIN radio opening on the dash kit.

I haven't received the new Metra catalogue but I have seen it in an ad in my 12 volt newspaper

ok so hold on...when i change out the radio my display underneath the speedo is gonna stop working?

No it won't. Everything but the chimes will still work. I pulled mine out today:



If you have a 2LT, your steering wheel controls are connected to the DIC, so perhaps there could be some issues there.
On my 1LT there was no problem driving the HHR with no stereo installed.
