Ipod
Can anyone help me? I am no audio expert. When I plug my Ipod into the jack on my HHR, I have to turn the volume all the way up to hear it. If I forget to turn it down it is absolutely blaring when I go back to XM, or radio, or CD. Any idea why it does this and can I buy something to fix it?

Turn your iPod volume all the way up before cranking the radio volume, that should help.
Thanks, I am no audio expert, but I did have that figured out. What I meant was that with the volume on the Ipod at full, I can turn the radio volume all the way up and it is still not very loud.
Processing has nothing to do with it. It's a matter of impedance mismatch. Buy one of the various preamps and use that to boost the signal. I use a Ten Tech FlexDock but Belkin also has a very nice combo lighter plug/inline preamp that'll boost the signal to where the factory HU can play it at a higher volume.

thanks for crapping on my answer in place of the same answer. i am a pro installer or was for the last 7 years til i landed my new job. a sound processor allows the units to be matched(pre amp

I gave him examples of devices that could fix the problem. You didn't. Big difference. No offense was intended, just some clarification. Try decaf.
