I replaced my sub yet again

I tore that LA up. That subwoofer sucked. The plastic ring that holds the foam on came completely off. It lasted a whole couple of days. The LA amp I have is alright and I like the fan upgrade for it but I don't recommend their speakers. My mom bought it from Walmart so I took it back and picked up something a little better. There isn't much of a selection there (5 different 12"s) so the best choice they had IMO was a 12" Pioneer TS-W301R. It is definitely a higher quality speaker than the LA but it is still not the best. At least it's a cool color of blue and the center is an Maltese Cross.

Now if it would stop raining so I can get a chance to stop the roof rack from rattling.

Looking good!

I really like your idea of keeping the 8" to use when you need the extra space.

How does the 8" sound? You liked it at first, but commented somewhere that it rubs or bottoms out or some such. It it ok? I plan to do what you did on the 8" one. I will make an extra set of wires and a jack for perhaps an occasion when a large one could take its place.

Swapping may require retuning of the crossovers, but I'm sure the sub amps will be fine with the impedance variances.

Would it be worth running both subs? One for upper mid bass and the other for the real lows? Of course then one would need two amps or a stereo sub amp.
Anyway, I'm glad your Pioneer 12" makes a good sound and it better last longer than the last one

There was nothing wrong with my 8" it sounds OK, i just wanted more bass. I could hardly push my amp with the 8" in the factory box. The problem comes from the factory box being so small.

Gotchya. I must have misinterpreted a post somewhere. I like your speaker setup and plan to do one similar. A permanant bass box is not an option ( family car) but a shared cord with 8" and 12" options seems very doable.

Mine doesn't share any cords. If I want to use my 8" I just have to take my box out, lift my rear floor, unscrew the screws on the amp, swap wires, retune the amp, and put everything back.

Pioneer = sh*t! :twothumbs The Pioneer subwoofer sucked! I put in a Dub Mag Audio one next. It really sucked! I just put a Sony sub in but I won't get a chance to tune it and take pics until tomorrow.
