For some reason I like down firing subs. Probably the extra vibration or something. It won't be permanent. It's just to improve the bass for the time being untill I plan out and buy a proper system. That will probably be sometime in the begining of next year.

sthe sony xplod hasent exploded yet i herd that they are S$$T to, i would go with a memphis sub or a MYX jackhammer they come in 12 inch

Nah, the Sony is actually a pretty decent subwoofer. I'm happy with it so far. The problem started because my mom bought the LA sub at Walmart so when I returned it I didn't have much of a selection. The Sony is the best sub that Walmart sells. The only sub I have actually blown was the Dub, it only lasted a few hours. It breaks down like this:
Lightning Audio - fell apart after a few days
Pioneer - sounded like crap and the magnet was only 25 oz.
Dub Mag Audio - blown after a few hours and built like crap
Sony - a pretty nice sub that sounds pretty good
The Sony is definitely the best quality so far.
