My GPS solution

Hello,
Id really like a GM touch screen Nav head unit but I`ll have to wait. In the mean time I bought TomTom 5 GPS for my Tapwave Zodiac a palm based PDA.

Put the cradle in the top storage box and plug it into the cigaret lighter outlet. It connects to a bluetooth GPS antenna. I also have StreetNav, Emtac and Mapopolis mapping programs. All run in landscape mode with voice prompts. No monthly fee. Just load the maps on the memory card. I like TomTom because you use your finger for data entry. The program is exactly like TomTom stand alone ver.
If you want to know more about Palm naviagtion you can read a review of the 3 here.

Scroll down to read.

I bet you could install a power outlet in the storage bin for that extra clean look if you really felt like taking apart the dash. Otherwise it is a nice idea, I bet the lid helps shade the screen in bright sunlight.

I had one of those, but it kept getting me lost and it wouldn't shut up. So now I have "Lulu". She never gets me lost, and she has a volume control.

I have a Garmin StreetPilot C330 that I named "Mother", she sits in the upper glove box also. I recently went to Ohio and for fun added my sons home address(he lives way out in BFE) and Mother took us right to his door.

A TomTom One is on my list of things to get for Rebel Grey.Susie and I hunt for swap-meets and antique shops all around the rural South East and a GPS will really come in handy. It will have to wait until next month because I just bought a Microsoft Zune media player for my son in Iraq.He will enjoy this birthday present I am sure.

Anyone know what kind of units they use in Hertz rentals? The Navi that we rented for our trip had one, the only time I got "lost" was when I didn't listen to it.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I did it back in April. I ran the power line through a hole in the compartment and plugged it into an auxillary cig lighter plug that I hard wired to the fuse box and mounted on top of the transimission tunnel. Makes it a lot more convienant when I just have to pop open the box and switch it on and not run any wires
