Talking New front speakers.

Just installed a set of Pioneer TS-A1674R 300 w speakers in the front doors......SOOOOOO much clearer than the muffled stockers. May get another set for the rear......

I would stick with comps but that is me. I find that most (and Pioneer falls into this) coaxials can not keep up with their seperate counter parts. they tend to use smaller and cheaper tweeters and the mids also are slightly less robust as well. This usually ends up in the rears breaking up or having some harshness much sooner then the fronts and actually making you take notice that they are back there. I use matching comps and amps so that the fronts and rears have the potential to go as loud as one another. Of course I set the rears to a lower level then the fronts so that the rears are only helping to fill the car without taking from the front stage. This adds more punch and that "wow I can really feel the music" feeling. In short I do not want my rear fill speakers to be my weak link/limiting factor in my audio system.

Thinkin about gettin the exact same set, they are a 3 way speaker. Sound really good up front.
The rears sound muffled, is that the stock radio doing that or is that just poor quality stock speakers?

Considering whether or not to cut the stock grill out of the door and install the pioneer grills

id leave the stock grilles there. and its prally the rear speakers that sound like poo. upgrade them and itll be night and day difference.

upgrade the radio to an aftermarket, and itll be even better.

add an aftermarket amp to power the new speakers, and ... well you catch my drift :)

Sweet. I just replaced my fronts with Kenwoods KFC-1693PS 3-ways. The highs are much more crisp. Not alot of bass in them but I have it evened out with the stock rears and it sounds pretty good. I am sure I will have to upgrade the rears soon. I will get more bass then.
