Question OEM stereo part numbers.

I'm interested in changing out my stock single disc player for a stock 6-disc player. I may even consider a single disc player with MP3 capability.
My problem is when viewing some of these that are available, I can't tell the difference as the single MP3 and 6-disc stereos look identical.
Does someone know the model # and/or part # associated with these units?

Thanks.

Thanks, ChevyMgr!

Can I assume that the part #'s are the same for '06, '07 and '08?

Both state 06-07. You can call Specmo which is where we order exchange units. Call 1-800-545-7910 and ask for Sales.

One thing to remember is that after the switch, you will be required to have the radio "registered" to the car or it won't play. This requires a trip to the dealer.

Is there anything special in swapping a non-premium stock head unit out for a single disk MP3 head unit? Are the power/speaker/antenna connections all the same?

Any reason you wouldn't consider an aftermarket system? Far cheaper and much better sound quality. If you're unsure what to look for, call http://www.crutchfield.com/ and tell them what you want. They'll be able to recommend something, and they provide the mounting kit for free along with installation diagrams to make the install a piece of cake.

Well, I'm looking at buying used, so it wouldn't necessarily be "cheaper". I prefer to keep things looking stock for now, but I would really like the feature of being able to play MP3 discs. I'm only looking to spend around $50 for a used one. I missed getting a 6-disc/MP3 unit a few weeks ago for ~$65 and I'm still kicking myself for that one.

Thats exactly my reasoning. I like the look of the stock unit, I just want the MP3 capabilities.

I've found a couple of units that look like they are the higher end units as they don't have numbers for the radio selections, but the model numbers don't match those in the earlier post above.

One is 15832813

And the other is 15874061 as seen here...

ChevyMgr, can you help?
