onstar control module where and how

onstar control module where and how

Does anyone know where the onstar control module is in a 2008 hhr and more importantly How to disconnect it?

I believe the quickest way to disconnect Onstar is to pull the fuse from what I have read.

Pulling the fuse will not turn the GPS off. The module is in the Right Rear quarter trim. The Onstar module has it's own battery. If you are wanting the GPS to go away I would say unplugging the unit will accomplish that.

I would kindly suggest going to onstar's web site and reading the fine print ( or the booklet that came with the car) . One will find there that the Onstar "may" locate the stolen vehicle, but unlikely and only for 48 hours from the time the police (not you) will ask them to do so, and in reverse they will do everything necessary to locate YOU for the police and to disable your vehicle. Sometimes small print says more then the TV commercial....

Basically, a liability waiver in case your vehicle is not found. Stolen vehicle recovery is NOT the primary purpose of the OnStar concierge service, only a side benefit.
