putting in stock amp/sub?
are they worth having, or just going with aftermarket sub/amp? I dont need anything fancy, as I just want a bit of extra bass. Parts at gmpartsdirect are about $120 a piece.

if you want to save space and dont mind taking apart the interior, you can use the factory enclosure and a small shallow sub, but the factory amp isnt worth the trouble, get an aftermarket one.

I definitely want to use the factory enclosure. Otherwise I would put a sub in the extra storage space. I use my HHR mainly for work purposes, so I have a lot of parts in my cargo space and would not be able to put a sub in the main cargo space.

Ive been looking around and found this sub with enclosure that I like. Fairly well priced too.
Should I also look into one of the amps from Power Acoustik as well?

You can make an amp rack and box under the cargo hold lid thing
if you don't really use the storage than that's a good route
taking the spare tire out will give you really good results if you want a big sub in there
