Nothing in the windshield. That is sun shading.

Seems like you are trying to make the job harder than it needs to be. I have heard that extension cables are available.

I think it depends on the year about disconnecting OnStar, You could test easily enough.

Why not spend $5.00 on a wireless adapter for the camera?

Basically, just going for a clean install in the most stable configuration, hard lines & minimal connections... while it’s open for back seat swap and install of sub speaker enclosure and amp. Wireless... in a car and various external elements, never very reliable video or as stable as hard connection. Plus wireless is more bulky in my opinion and prone to electronic failures that cable won’t experience.

Adapters wouldn’t suffice since XM cable wasn’t present... running 1 cable, might as well run 4 on same path using proper connections. Wanted to get all routed to one mount point, cleaner roof look to me.
Appreciate the info on windshield mesh, that helps!

I think the OnStar complication is that in certain years OnStar was hooked to the CANbus. I know some people have disconnected it without a problem.

Easy enough to pull the plugs and try to drive it.

Sounds like a plan... I'll try that before closing it all up.
It should set a light pretty quickly is any dependencies.
Thanks for all the assistance and suggestions, the forum is a super resource.

Can you identify which is which... in the headliner there are 2 mic-like devices. Is the "round" one the OnStar Mic and the other a Audio Db Sensor or are they both Mic's?
I'd like to use a factor Mic if possible for the new Pioneer Head Unit and Phone connectivity.
Didn't know if one was better than the other for this purpose.

Looks more like a speaker to me.
One of those is the flood light. I think the large one is the mic.

Maybe you can figure something out from this: https://www.tonkinonlineparts.com/sh...ssembly=848072

Believe it or not GoOgle "onstar microphone splice" gave lots of links! https://www.google.com/search?q=onst...=1706&bih=1268

Nothing in the Owners manual, but the Shop manual does identify the round one as the Cellular Mic and the small one as the console flood light.
Hey, thanks for the link on the OnStar Mic splice.

Another part I have't found reference to yet is a electronic box behind the liner by the mirror.
Possibly Compass module?

Based on the links provided... bad idea to use or splice into the OnStar Mic.
So I'll see about removing the Mic "guts" and leave the small grill in headliner and just attach the Pioneer AVIC mic inside the small head liner grill.

On Headliner, there was a cable glued running from Mirror to Lf Tail light harness in rear.
Leaving this unplugged, all lights, brakes, signals worked.
I'll need to look up the harness, but appears to provide the Doom light power, OnStar Mic, Console Flood and components within the Rr View Mirror.

The box is you RCDLR, The fob receiver.

The mic may be different.

Since what you think is the common is actually a noise reduction drain wire.

I bet the wire to the rear terminates to the ground .
