Would you gain anything by replacing the 4 door speakers?
I would like alittle more volume than what Im getting without replacing the factory head unit. I dont care about all the thump and such.
any suggestions

I did some checking on this myself, and all the audio installers I have talked say the same thing: yes, you will notice improvement in overall sound clarity and quality with better speakers -- how much improvement depends on the speakers installed. Of course, replacing just the speakers is not as good as installing a new, higher-end system. But I am sticking with my factory unit, and will be installing new speakers shortly. I replaced the speakers in my '03 Impala and noticed better overall response to both the highs and the lows.
I upgraded to the higher end stock unit and it was a 100% improvement in sound.
I have recently started to upgrade speakers and have tried some Polk db651 & db651s and couldn't get the low end sound like the stock speakers.
So then I exchanged them for some Alpine SPS-17C2 and got a little more low end but not much more, so now I'm going to try some Kicker 07DS600's and see if I like them.
If I don't I know I'll have to put in a totally new setup, but would like to keep the stock headunit.
I will probably go ahead and do a 4 channel and a mono amp setup. Along with new door speakers.

I just ordered new door speakers from Crutchfield and they suggested getting speakers with a high sensitivity like 92 to 94 db. They also suggested getting 2 ohm impedance. I ordered Infinity reference 6022i at there suggestion. $99 a pair.
let us know when you try them please
Yes I was able to install them the other day. I also installed baffles behind them, Crutchfield said they would slightly increase the bass. (not to mention keeping them dry.) Yes they did make the sound better, especially the mid bass and high's. However the volume had to be turned up pretty high to get that. I would say it was worth about a 35% to 40% improvement over the stock speakers. The improvement would have been greater except the stock head unit just doesn't put out much power. I would guess maybe 3 or 4 watts per channel.
Tonight I installed a Pioneer DEH-P6000ub head unit. I bought this at the same time as the speakers. I just wanted to see what a difference the head unit would make with good quality speakers over the stock one. WOW!!!! what a difference it was. The improvement had to be over 100%. The 14 watts per channel really shows. Not to mention all the adjustments I could make. The bass and mid bass was the most noticeable. My advice after this experiment is the speakers help a good bit but the head unit is the big difference.
