Sirius Install Question...

Sirius Install Question...
I have my Sirius Starmate from my previous ride and hopefully I'll install it in my HHR sometime this weekend. Before I venture on my own, I need some ideas for the following:
1. Best place for the satellite antenna on top of the HHR.
2. where to route the antenna wire (out of site, out of mind).
3. Where to place the receiver, I don't like it on the windshield.
4. How to hide the power cord.

always have full signal and you can't see the antenna.
Just an FYI, XM and Sirius antennas are inter-changeable. The only problem is the further north you live, the closer to the horizon the XM satellites get (I have both services). For a front dash antenna mount, that is a big problem. Living in Michigan, the XM birds are only about 35 degrees above the horizon. The Sirius satellites have a near overhead orbit for the US.
I mounted my datellite radio on a Akon SR type mount (search eBay, also google Akon) on the passenger side of the console.
No pictures yet, too cold to take them.
You can also tap RAP power off of the powerwindow switch if you want your sat radio to power cycle with the car's radio.

Wow, good mounting spot for the antenna. Might have to use that when I add Sirius :)
FYI- the antenna's are interchangable, but depending on the units, the connection isn't so great (like the Roady 2 units, with the pink connector- you need an adaptor for the connection to plug it into a Sirius unit).

Hey Monster thanx for the info. I just bought my new S50 tonight and should be installing it soon. I have some new questions for you...
1. What parts (if any) did you have to remove to reach the pocket behind the cluster?
2. Are you using the Aux input from the stock HHR, or are you using the FM Transmitter?
3. Post pix as soon as you can. Your setup sounds like something I would like to do.

Don't FM modulate, if you do, then you get the same audio quality as FM broadcast. I use the AUX input.
I like the looks of the S50 but I'm not going to drop any more on satellite radios, at least for a while. This spring my bucks go to the GTO for CAI, headers and a cam.
