The shop that did mine insisted that speakers and amplification were enough and the factory H/U is fine for clarity and noise... I'm glad I trused him and put money in to amps rather than the H/U. If it's features you're looking for (dvd, sat-nav etc) then I'd change the h/u, but if it's sound you're looking for the money may be better put to amps...

Panels come off real easy. Three bolts; one under the centercap behind the door handle and two under the rubber piece in the door pull.

Then just pop it off. There is one pin on the edge of each door too. Push the center of it in a little and then pull the whole piece out. Once you do the first door the other three should take about 5 minutes each.

also crutchfields adapter plates will need to be rounded off on the rear doors so have a dremel tool handy

 

Realy? I didn't know that Best Buy sasles associates were on commission. I cold have sworn they were hourly paid. Crutchfield doesn't have all the wires for a head swap either. I can tell you that the Infinities are great in the ol' HHR. I am still saving what little I can to grab them puppies some day. Its been my experiance that when I change the speakers to change the head unit as well. When matching head unit to speakers. You should look to mach sensitivity, Max RMS power, Min RMS power, and impedance. Most Factory units don't have the power to eficiantly produce sound on upgraded speaker systems.

Oh yes! Don't forget to look at the mounting depth of the speakers also. If I am not mistaken we have a 2 1/2 mounting depth.

 

they may tell you they are not, but by selling other things ie replacement warranties and what not they earn more. so that is why they slaughter you on eveyr product, even video games to get you to buy something. i still shop there but its ridiculous to buy rep plan for a vid game. just my rant.

good combo in speakers they are great, same ones i have in my truck. great even with stock hu.

FYI Best Buy nor Circuit City get commission or bonus'. installers at circuit city make bonus off installs, but they get crap points off of decks.

i know i worked install at both places for a combined 5 years. 2 at CC and 3 at BBY. BBY being the most recent as a manager with no bonus. salesmen dont make commission or spiffs off of extended service plans.

 

I got my speakers yesterday. I think I’m just going to keep them in the box for now and start to look for a HU, Amp, Sub and just make a day of it. I’m just looking for a 10” sub and I guess a 400w amp.

I just would like to put together a nice sounding budget system. You guys who changed your HU did you also pick up this and do I need it? I don’t have Onstar or the Pioneer system. I have stock LT1 radio/Cd/mp3 HU.

My installer kept the chimes but separated it from the factory deck with a 'gm chime speaker' mounted in the dash. Don't know how he did it, but that was only $25.
