Speakers not working sometimes.

Well this is my wife's Hhr, when we use the radio the speakers don't want to work. We hear what seems to be some high pitch music coming from the front of the vehicle, but at a low volume level. Sometime the problem fixes it's self when we slam the door and it seems like it knocks it back into place like a cable is lose or something, but then it stops working after a short while. What can I do? Should I take the radio out and check for loose wires? Any help would be appreciated

HHR's are notorious for having this issue. Also have it myself.

Believe some have fixed with new sounds systems altogether. But I am sure someone will come and correct me.

Sounds like the speakers are going dead and the high pitched music you hear is the tweeters.

Since you don't state what year, model or sound system you have, I'll just say it's probably time to replace the speakers.

It's an 08 and I guess it's just a basic model. I don't have the car so I can tell you at the moment. Also would that cause all the speaks to go out at the same time and come back on at the same time?

Sounds like a bad head unit?

Having similar problem as well...all speakers intermittently quit working except for right front and left front tweeter....once in a while speakers will function as normal. Just replaced oem radio with an aftermarket one...still having the same problem. Anyone found a fix/short location yet?

Hi Rusty, to the forums!!

Problems with the speakers are almost always the speakers, caused by water intrusion into the door cavity. New speakers should fix you up.

Unhappy having issues with speakers going in and out

i was having the issue where the rear speakers would occasionally go out. When they would come on they could come on for a couple days but then they would go off again. I had someone pull out the head unit to see what was going on and now not only do the back speakers not work the front speakers (bottom) dont work and you dont hea r the click sounds for the turn signals or the hazards. It says the car comes with a factor amp but i cant seem to find one the car has a pioneer deh-150 radio i bought it with it installed so i dont know if thats even the factory radio. Seems like when i get someone else to help me something more happens. The latest person is telling me i have to replace the speakers. Has anyone ever had the problem i am having with the speakers in the back going in and out and what has to be done to get my radio working again???

Yes, as per a post or two above, the speakers are a known point of failure. And yes, that includes the speakers in the front, as well as the back doors. They seem to fail.more commonly by working intermittently.

And no, that definitely is NOT the factory radio.
