Stock radio issue

Hey guys, new member here. Recently picked up a 2008 HHR. Drove it for the first time today and noticed that sometimes the radio works, and other times it seems stuck on static. Here is what I observed today:

Started off with radio on this morning, working fine. Turned it off so I could listen for other noises. About 20 minutes later turned it back on, but it was just low static. Changing stations made no difference. When I got to work, I shut the car off and back on, and then the radio worked.

On the way home.... left the radio on the whole time. Worked fine for about 25 minutes, then it went to static again. Turning the car off and on didn't make a difference this time. Went back out to the car later and it worked fine.

I did a google search (how I found this forum also) and I did find a few people mention this same issue, however none of those old posts ever had a reason or fix. Hoping this may be a better know issue at this point in time!

Thanks for any input!

Sometimes the connection to the antenna is bad or the antenna preamp is bad. Does it do the same while playing a CD? Then connections to speakers and/or bad speakers.

Intermittent radio

If you copy and paste this into the search window above, you'll get some discussions about it. There's even a TSB.

To the forum!!

Thanks.... I just searched for a while, but didn't see a TSB. I saw something about loose fuses. Is there something else specific to this issue?

If your radio needs replacement I have stock one out of my SS that I will send you for $50 if you want it. No issues with it and worked perfectly when removed and I went aftermarket.

I checked for the possible shorted wiring near the sun visor per the TSB. I stuck my finger up in the hole and there is no harness anywhere in that area. Guess I'll try reseating the fuses...but not sure how that would make a difference as the radio is still powered when this happens.
