Stock Radio USB port uses

Any one ever tried using the USB for other purposes? I tried using a USB battery charger for AA and AAA's and it seems to work. I would probably only use in that way if I had to like on a trip and my rechargeable batteries were needed pretty quick. Any one else think of that?
I just wish it would charge my cellphone but it is a tracfone and the data port is blocked. Anyone else tried that? I wonder if it would work.

I just got a new phone - LG 500G from Tracfone. I put a 4 GB micro SD card in it (the largest it will take) and decided to plug it into the USB port on my radio. Not only does it charge the phone, but it also reads the card and plays the music stored on it through the radio. The radio controls it like any other stored media like a thumb drive, but I get the added benefit of charging the phone at the same time. So I don't need a separate car charger anymore, just a USB cable. Wow this is great! Anyone else try that with their phones?

I've used the USB port with a USB battery charger. For the phone, I guess it depends on the phone. My radio will charge my phone (LG Cosmos) but it won't play the music on the phone's card.

Not really. It's use is considerably more limited than that of a PC/Mac. There are many more things that can be connected to and will function on a PC/Mac that this radio won't recognize. Like printers, cameras, just to name a couple......

Whatever you need 5V for, the USB port can provide.

Sorry I didn't mean for use but for power. Correct that it is not going to connect to anything except some storage types (not even all of those). Still it is better than no usb access at all.
