stock sub/box questions

looking to get a stock box for my 2010 HHR and an 8" sub

how hard would it be to build a box? how much would it cost to get someone to build one?

what are the dimensions needed?

I've heard the stock box is crap, is it true?

If you wrap it and stuff it with polyfill its.....ok ( better then stock, but....) On top of that Ive added a 10" Polk power by an old Alpine amp and its much much better..to the point where I use the fader to knock some of the sub down for certain music...wont dent the roof but enough to let you know its there....
Some here have replaced the stock with better and/or bigger subs with some luck but you cant beat a seperate amplified setup..

unless that 10" is over 1000w rms I doubt I'll have any problems with it.

I have the tweeters on an amp and currently have a 1000w 12" on 400w rms.

how did you fit a 10" in there?

I don't want to cut the car up :\

Well..a ten will need some cutting unless you mount it behind,,,not sure u have the room for that with a box..others mounted front side with some mods..or flipped the sub..most just mount in the cargo floor panel( spare tire) and run some sort of protection grill over top for cargo..do a search and all kinds of options will show posted
