I get better reception then ever (the little I use the radio) with a powered antenna that mounts on the inside of my windshield. It even picks up stations inside a tunnel. Plus, you get to remove the outside antenna completely (I never cared for the way it looks. Neither did Chevy, because if you look in their brochure it is photoshopped out of the pictures).

I bought mine from http://www.stubbyantenna.com/. They have a reception rating for each one. This is the one I bought:http://www.stubbyantenna.com/detail....ntenna_Y_Black

Most stations I listen too are pretty strong in my area so I haven't noticed any loss of signal.

They sell them at Crutchfield, as well as most auto stores like Pep Boys. Cost is under 20 bucks. Hooks up to 12 volt, but I have it switched so it isnt on all the time. Truth is, reception is good without it being powered on. I have a thick decal from Pep Boys of the American flag over the antenna hole for now, and will have it body worked when I bring the car into the shop soon. But I like the way it looks without the 'Radio Control Car' antenna.

I live about 30 miles from downtown, the site of most radio staion antennas, and have no loss of reception around town. Leaving town though I lose reception about 20 miles sooner than I did before. Not sure of the brand....cheap ebay model. I do keep the factory one in the car, only takes a couple seconds to switch back.
