update... got my new HU and subs and amp installed today... after a lengthy install(got stuck on making the vehicle look stock and be user friendly)its in. I have only one problem.... I've lost remote start... I've read in a couple of threads that you loose onstar and remote start, but.... remote start still worked after I removed the stock radio(no radio at all).. it worked for a couple of days while I worked on the car......this is what I don't understand... why would it work with no radio and suddenly stop working once a new HU is installed? anyone know if it could only be a fuse? if so where would such a fuse be located? if its a wiring problem what would I have to do to hotwire the car to have the remote start back?

something worth mentioning is that I didn't purchase a super expensive wiring harness... I purchased one off of amazon.com... its only straight wires.. I noticed that alot of wires coming from the factory harness were missing in the harness that I installed.. I assumed this was just the xm radio wires.. but now that the remote start dosn't work im figuring im wrong... is there anything you guys need from me to make a more educated guess?.. I.E. pictures or better descriptions of my install?.... please help.. I'd really like to have it back.... is there a harness that I should have purchased.. I actually had a super hard time finding a harness anyway... after I found one I was just happy... I'll gladly purchase a new one if thats what I have to do.... thanks to all who post

I hardwired my alpine head unit with no harness or adapter and never had any problems with remote start. Remote start should work. Check your wiring and all your fuses. Try your other remote and see if it does the same thing...

I was a little disappointed that the system I put in didn't hit a little harder than it did... not that I wanted to rock peoples socks off or anything but the stock radio sounded like it had more bass... well I took the time to bridge the amp today and do a little tweaking and man.... I actually had to pat myself on the back... I love it.. im thinking of trading my brother my tundra for his HHR... Im actually starting to like his car more than mine... Picks to follow soon... I'm busy repairing my buddy's motorcycle he crashed so hopefully by tomorrow Ill have em up

Looks good someone else on the forum had that same speaker box Nice amp location, and I think that's exactly where I put my fuse to
