Cool Subs

Whats the best bang for the buck which subs do you all have that sound good and hit hard but wont brake your wallet? Is JL good? Which setup is best to make your HHR be heard from down the street? Thanks for your input.

That's a tough one indeed! I'm running a bandpass box with 2 Audiobahn 10's fed by a monoblock amp with 300-watts @ 2-ohms.

It's slammin' loud inside (ask anyone who'se been to the cruise nights!), but barely audible outside the HHR due to the great insulation. Roll the windows down though and it's a different situation...

IMO you are going to need at least 2-12's and about 600-1000 watts before they will hear you coming in an HHR.

*BTW - I can tell you where to get a deal on the sub box I have - it is easily removed when you need to haul something.

I can't be heard down the street, that's way too loud for me now that I'm getting old. But I can speak for the quality and sound of Audiobahn.

get 2 alpine type r's 12 and the mrd-1005. that is what is going in my HHR with alpine 9855.

amp

if you get that head unit and amp you can set your settings from the head unit itself. That is one of the reason why i went this route. it will be crazy loud when i want it to be and will be quite when it needs to be.

this amp is a good 4 channel amp that also works with the head unit, also will be getting this with type r comps all the way around.

I Have 2 premier 12" subs( enclosed in a slot ported box) each rated at 1200w max being powered by a memphis mono block amp rated at 1100w rms and i can be heard from a couple blocks, but i have no real usable cargo space anymore! Eventually i will replace the subs and go with the premier spl series subs when i go with the eclipse avn 5435 head unit.

The JL is nice but they want way to much for their subs. There are some good subs out there at a more reasonable price. Try pricing Kicker, Fosgate (not for me), JBL, or Infinity. My single 8" kicker CVR sounds better than most duel 10" subs.
