Turning Subwoofers on and off.

Is it possible to set your subwoofers up on a switch. Say when I have my kids in the car I can turn it off but when I am driving alone I can just turn them back on with the flip of a switch.

You sure can.
I have mine on a switch.
You just need to wire a swtich into the remote wire that gose to your amp or amps.
That is if you have a aftermarket amp and sub

Yeah I am looking at getting an aftermarket audio system but I didnt want to waste my time if I had the kids ear drums popping every time they climbed in and out of the car. Thanks for the help.

I can turn mine on/off directly from the head unit. Might want to look into a unit that can do the same.

I see in your sig. that you have a audio (non oem) set up that you probably need to refer to the installer. When you ask something of us oem folks, it`s hard to give a yes or no answer about something custom..
My first thought was to use the equalizer function.
My second was ,why not just turn the volumn down ? Glad my kids are grown...

A custom eq setting might work, but not the volume. I used to have this problem when I'd have a date in my Buick. It would beat down the block! Ladies no likey...so that meant no radio...at all! Even when it was low, it would thump inside the cabin. Now that I think about it, even the eq wouldn't work because the sound would still be big, even with no base. There's no disguising two 15's...

When I have the kids in the turtle I turn the bass down, and it gets quiet I am running a single 12 kicker running 125w RMS, so it's not overpowering to start with, though. For those who have a switch, doesn't the music sound nasty with no bass at allwhen the subs are off ?

Look into amps with remote bass controls/knob. That's one reason I went with my Infinity amp. I have the bass knob under the e-brake handle so I can turn it down without having to look for it.

Other brands that have this feature are Fosgate and JL. I'm pretty sure there are more out there if you look around. Let us know what you decide on

His sig says...coming soon. That means he doesn't have it yet.
