USB radio question
I installed a 2011 Usb radio in my car. The usb works great for playing music on a flash drive. The 4 gig drive works, but a 16 gig isn't recognized.i checked my manual, but it doesn't say how large a flash drive you can use. I don't no if my flash drive is bad or if the radio can't read from a 16 gig drive. Does anyone have any info

I reformatted the drive using the fat32 put the music back on, and it still says not recognized. I tried putting music in a folder on the drive, still doesn't work.i just wondered if it was to large for my radio, or just a cheap flash drive. It's a verbatim brand. In my manual it says nothing about how large a flash drive it will read.

16gb are dime a dozen.. Grab a new one, put songs on it, and see what happens. If it works, you know it's the drive, if it doesn't, you know it's the size. Either way, you get a spare 16gb that can keep a ton of music on for you. :)

It works in my PC and also my tv. That's ok if it only recognizes the 8 gig.i was just curious if anyone was using a 16 or bigger. Yes I will get another brand and try that. There cheap, and I can use it for pictures. And data if it also won't play in my car. Thanks

The radio was probably made before 16 G was a possibility, might also be USB 1.x v USB 2.x v USB 3.0 problem.
16G drives are relatively new, just last year they were NOT "a dime a dozen". They got really cheap once USB 3.0 popped up. Not to mention SDxx cards are the "new" thing.

The Super Talent Pico Mini up to 32gb work great. I have several low profile.
Once in a while the radio wont reconize it. I found if I remove it and plug in my iPhone via usb cord then swith back to the Pico drive it will works for a long time.
I grinded off the loop on the end to make it smaller.

I bought a 1 TB solid state drive since I have about 15,000 songs now and 800 or so videos and got tired of the thumb drive swapping thing. If the drive has a USB connection it might not compatible with the head unit USB as they are USB 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and now even 3.1!!!!
I would check on line with the head unit company to see what they say as I do with Pioneer and the AVIC forums.
