Almost complete. I shortened the wires and replaced separate fuse box and spliter with a combination unit. The speaker grill is Autobahn, and has flames that match those on the car.

Now all that's left-remove everything and carpet the board black, then get black carpet to replace the shoddy grey cargo mat. Then, I have to make the old speaker hole in the side panal square, attach a door, then carpet the panal and the other side black (so the door will be concealed). I will use a spring loaded magnet latch, so no knob will be needed. There is plenty of room inside to keep my cleaning kit-polish, glass cleaner, paper towels, etc. Eventually I would like to change the entire interior to ebony/black. Have to start somewhere, so it may as well be in the back



The system easily conceals behind the hats. But they still allow for airflow and cooling of the amps. The amps angle down towards the front of the car following the seat, while the hats drop straight down leaving several inches of space.

Remember-bottom cargo area opens, as well as the passanger storage bin. To access the drivers side bin, when the seat folds, the sub is attached and goes with it. If needed, just remove the headrest and the sub comes right out. Bass with the Infinity Kappa is so strong that it shakes the car, yet it is not overpowering.

I am proud to say that I have accomplished all of my goals-great sound while retaing all of the functions and relatively stealth appearance until I remove the hats.

 

I looked into this phenomom (spelling cant be right) and found the answer. One speaker gets the amps full power, while with more speakers the power is cut-1/2 for 2, 1/3 for 3, etc. Especially if your single speaker is 2 ohm, and the amp is rated for loads that low, it will be much louder than 2 speakers driven at 4 ohm.

I am using a single 2 ohm 10 inch Infinity Kappa in a .75 sealed box I built (with Dynamat Extreme and polyfill and everything glued and caulked). The box is small enough to fit behind the back seat and allow the rear compartment to open. At about half volume on my radio, the car ROCKS! Seats shake so much it is like a massage. Mirrors are hard to see out of. I could adjust the gain and settings on the head unit to get more thump, but that would make the music sound unbalanced. I really do not understand the need for anything more

 

Many thanks to you, Yonash. That was a great suggestion. Dont know why I didnt think of it. I have been planning on doing it since your post, but it involved a bit of work so I needed to allocate enough time. As an incentive, yesterday on 'Unique Auto' they built a sub rack/speaker box and they carped it to match the car.

Anyhow, here it be: (I still need to get a black rug for the cargo area to pull it all together, then finish up the side panals once I come up with a door for the old speaker area so it can be additional storage.)







Again, the bass is more than adequate, easily capable of overpowering the rest of the system. I am looking forward to April when the car shows begin so I can show it all off

No photoshop-I got bold and painted the carpet with Krylon carpet paint. Finished the compartment door also. Now all thats left is to carpet the side panals and door with the speaker box carpet. It is seamless, so the door should be totally hidden. No knobs are needed, as I used a magnet catch that swings the door open if you push it in the right spot.

What kind of sub box is that? Looks nice and compact.

 

Looks like a Kicker shallow mount.

The sub is only about 2" deep.

 

It a Kicker CVT12 , mounting depth is about 4 inches. I bought the sub matched with the box. It is nice and thin yet still hits as hard as any other 12 i've had. ( in it's power range )
