Various HHR Sub Installs...
Currently sitting in my apartment in a different box due to my whole interior being out of the HHR right now. (The box in the picture was thrown away due to obvious defects.)
Jensen headunit.
*not pictured* I have 2 Audiobahn A8000T amps (1 per sub) mounted above the spare tire.
Navy, those are some of the best amps a person can own. Extremely overpowered amplifier for its price! I went to a car show in the mid 90's where a Civic had 9 HCCA 225's and 18 10's wired to them. 500 psi at a single burp. The windows were 1" thick plexiglass, super insane car!

This is my first attempt at a sub installlation. I have just contracted for an all fiberglass false floor set up. It will be a combo of painted and carpet/vinyl. It will expose the equipment and probably relocate it where the storage boxes are. Being fiberglass, the floor and box will be rigid but will be allot lighter than the 3/4 MDF unit that I have now.

That looks amazing, great job on the install.
I am trying for something along the same lines, but a little deeper so I can keep the plastic tray above it.
Did you have to remove the spare or were you able to keep it under that setup?

The spare is still there, but to be honest, if I had to get it out alone there would be a problem. With the next set up, I will have a much lighter set up and the amps will not be connected to the false floor, that will solve the problem. I will also end up with something that is reall custom looking!

for an 8 in sub and it looking stock his hhr sound system is good. from what i remeber him saying he had it down to .5 ohm so the output was cleaner and allot more. there was no lie in that statement on his lil 8 in sub.
he is like me and waiting for his Onstar to go out for a h/u.
his set up is killer and sounds awesome for not having all different speakers in it than the stock. from what i remember him saying he still has the stock speakers in the rear seat.
i wanted to make mine as stock as possible as well and may change things now that i have seen his. Jeff has great ideas. wish i had him helping me on mine as to how to get it set up and in place. i like what he put on the side panel by his 8 in sub. looks like some sort of sound proofing filler.
the man knows his sound systems and is just a great guy to visit with
