Video System questions?

I am thinking about putting in headrest monitors and a DVD receiver in my wife's HHR. My question is, where to mount the DVD receiver? I am looking at the receiver that is about the size of a DIN sized radio. I was thinking that maybe in the storage compartment on the top of the dash. If I cut out some the face would be in the compartment and the back would be underneath. In the HHR there isn't really alot of options...

I doubt you couild get it in the upper dash compartment without some major modifications. But you could probably modify the regular glove box or just mount it under the passenger seat. Only other thing is to replace the HU with one that is also a DVD player.

I faced the same quandry and opted for an overhead console with flip down 10" monitor. Managed to install it even though my HHR has a sunroof. With wireless IR transmitter and FM modulator, it does not need to have any direct wiring to the head unit.
The grandkids listen with their wireless headphones and we can still listen to the radio.

I choose under the drivers seat, theres a wide bar there..
the metal is really tempered (heat treated) use cobalt drills to drill thru it..

I also have a flip down(no sagging) and mounted the dvd player under the passenger seat to the wide bars using large zip ties. No problems opening and closing my sunroof. I do have mine connected to the head unit due to the fact I play music video dvd's. I also have the option(when the kids are in the car) to use the wireless head sets.

We have installed dozens of the Audiovox 10.2 DVD Combos with fantastic results. These come with wireless headphones, wireless remote, wireless game controller, 30 games built in, built in fm tuner so no going behind the radio, has two different colored shells to match interior. I have pictures of the install but no how-to on it yet. Easy to install. Here is a couple pictures of one in my HHR and a link to the Combo for sell. Let us know if you have any questions.
