what should i do

I have a 2007 LS hhr and i wanna change the door speakers. I took off the door to get to the speaker and when i got to it i saw that you cant take the speaker out of box that it is in. I read on some other posts that you can unscrew it but this one you cant. Do i have to build a little box for it or do i actually have to screw it into the door.

I have not been in the door yet of my HHR but I have been in the door of many cars. What the little "box" you are refering to does is try to keep reverb down an focus the sound waves out of your door. Look at the link below and you can see a picture of how Dynamat explains it.

You wouldn't have to build a box for your speakers, just remove the factory spkrs and if you dynamat like the pic shows you can just screw them into the door and the matting will make a seal.
