Your states law
Your states law
Here in New York if you are issued a stereo ticket the police have the right to pull you out of your car and impound it. Then you have to not only pay your fine but also towing and impound fees. I was wondering of anyone else has such strict laws in there state. I haven't had a vehicle impouned yet but I had a close call the last time I got a stereo ticket. The cop kept wanting to be a d**k and kept repeating,"turn off and step out of the vehicle" like he was on cops and I was a serious criminal. I'm suprized he didn't pull out his gun just for an ego boost. He ran my driving record (which is fairly clean) and saw that I only lived two blocks away from where he pulled me over so after enough arguing with the guy he finaly just gave me my ticket then sent me on my way. The law is completely unfair! Anything they can do to get more money out of you I guess.
Fight it. :) I got pulled over last week going to work and was given a ticket for going 55 in a 45. They put a new sign in over night and when you know the speed limit on a road you dont look. I fought it with a lawyer b/c I had nothing better to do at the time and now there is a 30 day adjustment period on newly installed traffic signs. As far as the stereo goes, the only thing you can get a ticket for in oklahoma is either distrubing the peace for it being so loud (which is a 20 dollar ticket in oklahoma city) or if they have a db dectector or whatever. If you register over a certain amount on one of them, They can impound your car. But normally the only way youll get a ticket is if ur drivin thru a residential or extremely high class commercial area. k ive talked enough. :)
I found this on myflorida.com, so here are the laws for FLORIDA...
On July 1, a statewide law restricting the volume of automobile stereos goes into effect. Any music audible 25 feet away or more is too loud, and the driver can be fined $68.50.
The law represents a big change. Until now, only music loud enough to be heard 100 feet or more from a car was deemed illegal.
