I'm trying to decide between lowering springs.. Has anybody winter driven ANY lowering springs? I need this thing to still be a DD...

I do like the slammed look of the Goldlines, but I'm afraid they might be too aggressive. Especially in Winter driving (I'm in Canada). Although, I do plan to get some studded winter tires...

My next bet is the ST Springs. Anyone have pictures of them? These drop the front and back the same, so it doesn't level out. I'm not sure if that's good or bad in the visual department.

Eibachs are a distant third... Obviously a mix of the two above...

Anybody?

 

I've got the first-generation Gold Line leveling springs on mine. We have had a much colder, much snow-ier winter this year than normal. Two major snows so far with good accumulation on the roads. I really have noticed no difference in the control and handling versus the original springs. And mine is my daily-driver.

 

I have goldlines also in mine, and the one thing ive notices is in the drifts like 6" or deeper it likes to plow right thru.

 

If you get the cobalt SS springs, they dont lower quite as much in the front, which is better for the snow. Actually I know of some used ones for sale pretty cheap:

Have GL's.. no problems...wife drives it and she ain't wrecked it yet!! But then she's drove in Alaska so.....

 

Thanks guys. Just picked up some Canuck Motorsports springs. Will review them when they're on... Also got some 18" Lenso ls-21 wheels... Not sold on the looks, but the price was right and if they suck I'll paint them black...

I have newer Goldlines and live in Colorado. Honestly, it doesn't handle that great, but coming from my last car, a Subaru, I don't think the HHR handles well in snow no matter what suspension setup you have. Just have to be a little more cautious I guess-
