Ok I'm satisfied, I found a local tire/brake shop nearby, whose willing to put the parts on..

In & Out, parts installed, $85.

Good deal in my opinion, I was willing to pay someone as much as $100

I'd rather they do it then allow my own inexperienced hands attempt it, and they'll probably even let me watch them do it so I can see how its done. Too late for me to get it into them this evening so got an appointment for first thing tomorrow!

Job done!

I appreciate all the advice from everyone here. Yes, I probably could have done the installation myself, but I did not entirely trust my own inexperience; let alone that cheap little jack that came with my HHR!

$112 for the parts... Wagner Thermoquiet brake pads, and 2 rotors.

$85 installation... from a small local shop.

Brake job done!

Under $200!

Not only that, but I asked them to inspect my calipers, give me a second opinion from what Pep Boys gave me.

They found absolutely NOTHING WRONG!

Pep Boys gave me a bad brake inspection, just so they could try to screw me out of a $600 brake job, then I just did for under $200 because of all the valuable information I've read here and doing my own research on the parts that I needed and buying them myself!

Cool!!!!!! And don't forget to adjust the rear brakes if it hasn't been mentioned before - improper adjustment makes the fronts do too much of the work, and can lead to them warping. 3 clicks free on the handbrake seems to be a good setting.

I asked them to double check the rears, for a second opinion, while they put the new parts on. They said both rears look to be in decent condition.

Doesn't mean I still won't keep an eye on them!

They can look good and not be adjusted! Don't get confused.
