Canuck Motorsports Springs Installed

Decided to try to get a few better pics this morning when I got to work. I bought a set of CM springs for the HHR, but they were out of stock and weren't planning to get them back in for several weeks so I went with CM Cobalt SS springs instead. The drop is pretty much the same but the spring rate is different. I was kinda worried that it was going to be too low but it ended up right where I wanted it. I've got 1-1/4" clearance in the wheel well up front and 1-1/2" in the back. Install went off without a hitch even though we didn't have a torque wrench. I'll try to get some better pictures later in the week if the weather permits.

Here's how she sat a few weeks ago after I got my wheels (I had the Cobalt SS stock springs in the rear)

Like I said, not too much of a drop but it sat it just right. I don't have any issues with speed bumps or dips in the road and it still looks good. As for ride quality...it rides pretty close to stock.

Looks good, but how hard does it hit the bump-stops with a full bus ??

It doesn't. I had a compressor in the back with my wife and little girl and it didn't hit. I called cm and they said not to trim them.

Looks very nice. Did you get the HHR ones or one of the two cobalt ones? I like the price for ours $149. Well $187 after shipping.

I had originally ordered the HHR springs, but they came back and said it was 3 weeks out for production and another week to ship. I knew the Cobalt SS springs would work and since the drop was pretty much the same, I decided to give them a shot. The ride is actually not bad at all...I can tell I swapped them but lets face it, the stock ride isn't the greatest on these wagons. I've always drove lowered vehicles...my last dropped ride was an 05 Dodge Magnum on 20's and before that a 2001 Xtreme S10 that was dropped to the point that I really needed to notch the frame so a little bumpy ride doesn't bother me.

Chad, I have the CM springs on my SS. They lowered the front about an inch and a half, but the rear ones only lowered it about an inch, ended up buying some spring bolt on compressor/lifter thingies at Orielys and compressed them some more to get more drop in the rear.

Yeah you have to remember how high the ls and lts sit in the rear. The cobalt SS springs sit it down very nice but I had a long ways to go. It's settling in and I've got about a quarter inch difference between the front and back but it looks good. I'm super satisfied with the squat.
