cobalt spring validation

OK so, I'm ordering up the Cobalt SS/TC springs #25821162 for my '09 1LT. I've searched all over the forums and there are a lot of opinions on TC vs SC, I just want to be sure that the TC springs will be OK to use on my ride (without changing shocks?) ...

I really just want to lower the rear enough to make the car look level. Later I plan to add a TTR sway bar to decrease that body roll in the turns.

Rick- I have been running the cobalt SS/TC rear springs for several years & am totally pleased with them.. My 2LT has FE3 & I'm still using stock shocks with ss/tc.

1-1/4" drop after settling, can still haul stuff & or people etc.

What about MOOG?

Sounds good, and will do on the pictures. I just looked on Oreillys web site for cobalt SS coil springs and they show a pair of Moog springs (CC81065) for $50 :

http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...3360&ppt=C0361

When I click on the compatibility list it shows Coblat base/LS/LT/LTZ/SS(SC&TC)/sport as well as many Pontiac G5 and Saturn Ion models and the HHR SS and SS panel (not all years)....making me a little confused

Anyway I was just thinking if I could find an Oreillys that have some in stock I could go see if they look like the right size, and they'd be a bit cheaper. I don't recall any mention of the Moog springs in my searches here for rear leveling springs though, so may just go forward with the GM parts order.

are you looking to level out on the rear or do all 4 corners? i would still suggest using the TC springs over the moog springs, the TC springs have been proven to do the job well

Rick,

I would stick with SS Cobalt TC GM springs.

They have a Known Ride and Lowering height factor and it isn't worth experimenting for a few bucks.

Only lingering question is if the FE1 rear shocks will work OK.

I will be watching this issue for your decision and results as I am about to make the same move..

SF

Parts Ordered

Just ordered from GMParts Direct part # 25821162 for $81.24. I agree on going with the tried and true GM part.

As a side note, I recently replaced my stock rear shocks with KYB replacements which greatly reduced the pogo bounce I was getting before. So, I don't want to have to get new shorter shocks with these new springs and will hold out to see how it goes. Others have reported no need, or at most just make sure the springs are positioned correctly when setting the car back on the ground.

Thanks!

I have the SS/TC springs on all four corners. I first put them in with my FE1 stuff then replaced the FE1 stuff with KYB's. There is no need for shorter shocks with these springs.

Rick- Agree with SF, Auto parts springs that one spring fits all is just a compromise of all the different applications.

You'll be happier with the real deal SS/TC ones..

Be sure to unbolt the brake line bracket on rear axle beam before you hang down the rear axle, otherwise it will put a strain on the brake line, once the lower shock bolts are removed to install the new springs..
