Cobalt SS/TC Shocks and Struts

Now I have read thru this forum a couple of times and did some searching but haven't found anyone that has given a definite answer as to whether or not the Cobalt SS/TC shocks and struts will fit a HHR. I already know bout the springs so no need to discuss those. Thanks.

I guess I will be they guinea pig on this one. I am thinking on going with the Cobalt SS FE5 front struts and HHR SS FE3 rear shocks.

The HHR SS ARE FE5....not FE3 which is the sport suspension for the 2LT, HHR.

Also to answer your question regarding the Cobalt SS struts fitting the HHR. You could do a search in one of the on-line parts stores. See if the Cobalt and the HHR have the same DELCO part numbers....FOR THE FE5 suspension.

How does it ride? I was looking to go with the SS/TC struts since thats the springs I have. Also as going with the FE3 in the rear cause I've heard the FE5 in the rear is a little harsh

I HAD the FE3 Shocks with the FE5 springs in the bag. I now have the FE5 HHR SS suspension all the way around. Don't think I agree with your source's statement of "little harsh". Frankly, I would say, it's absolutely not true. Probably stated by someone as an opinion without experience.

The car leaned, more than acceptable with the FE3 & FE5 combo in the back. Handles much better, without the "bouncing" that is experienced with some aftermarket (and FE3) shocks. But is does not have the "thumping" bone jarring harshness of some aftermarket equipment.

I would not go with the FE3 rear, cause you will have no drop in the rear and 1.2"-1.5" drop upfront and no drop in the rear.

I just had my truck to a trans shop to have my axle seal replace and the guy who worked on my truck asked me if I had modified my suspension and I had said yes. He said he figured cause the ride was much tighter than a typical HHR.. (Their shop truck was an HHR)

Here's one for you. I put HHR SS springs with my fe-3 shocks, it is great, corners like my SS, and the ride over the bumps, tracks, what ever is smoother. I highly suggest it for a 2LT.

so just to see if i got this right, all models except the SS have fe3 shocks and springs? So if i put pedder springs on stock LS..will this be a problem? or should i swap shocks as well? (aftermarket or oem? plus how do you know if they are fe3 or fe5? are they labelled as such, especially for aftermarkets?)
thanks, im just a little confused and want to make sure i do it right the first time :)

Close, I think they call the fe3 sport suspension, it drove pretty nice. It comes on LT2's and I believe some LT1's. I haven't heard anybody have any problems with just adding the Pedders, I had a set, they were too low and bouncy for me, I sold them. All the FE stuff is factory, they made 3 different sets.
