Front Control Arms
#11
Well, the heck with "in for a dime", I am in for several hundreds of dollars.
I have on order:
Front struts.
Rear shocks
Front control arms.
Front slway bar bushings.
End links.
If this doesn't fix my front end "clunk", ypu will find me, babbling, on foot, walking toward the lake....

Well, everything is here except the sway bar bushings and end links, which should be here on Saturday. Have an appointment 8/21 with my guy to do the install, plus an alignment. $740.00 worth of parts alone. This is fast becoming a not-so-economical purchase....sure glad that I like it so much.

I shall certainly advise him, and supply him with a printout of the procedure described on the site.
As always, advice from the experienced people like you is much appreciated by this Old Swede.

Front end
Well, I am back from the shop, just a few ago. "07 LT2, 165k. I bought the parts: (2) control arms, (2) Front struts, (2) sway bar end links, (2) sway bar bushings. Added (2) rear shocks and a gallon of DexCool and drove to my mechanic's shop. He did all the work and had the car aligned. As I said, I got it back today and drove it the 25 miles home. Have to say it is like a different car. $750 in parts, $375 labor and $75 for the alignment. I have to say that it is worth it. No more "clunk".
Now in my 70s, I don't get under the car anymore, sadly. I was lucky to find a mechanic that I trust.
