Blue- Ok, sure any petroleum based lubricants will kill the rubber material. However,.a quality silicone based grease won't do any damage to the rubber. I use it on any rubber O-rings, seals & etc on various bike engines & etc. But for sway bar bushings, downside is that it attracts and holds road grit, turning the grease into sandpaper that accelerates bushing wear.

FMG- 10-4, I have used Dawn dish soap straight with good results as well. That is what I used on mine.

I would think Dry Teflon spray would be good as well, But then there is the cost of it..

My first swaybar bushings on Oldblue , I greased when I changed them, bad idea! They were dry and crumbly in a year, then I installed polyurethane 1” bushings , they are just oversized enough to make noise over speed bumps. I have replaced the OEM in the BlackSwan with OEM, installed clean and dry, no problems after 4 years.

I had no problem getting GM OEM bushings on dry. Grease kind of defeats the purpose of a bushing, friction being part of its job.

No quicker way to destroy rubber than with petroleum-based grease or oil.

Got a refund on my Sway bar links from O Reilly's and bought their better brand, Precision, was $36 more. Got them on and front end is nice and quiet again. First set of cheap links lasted about 6000 miles, I don't normally buy the cheapest but it was all they had at the time. What a poor quality part to have such a poor lifespan. Wish parts stores would stock the better stuff. The lowest price is almost never the best value.
