I always used soapy water for installations like that.

Blue- Ok, sure any petroleum based lubricants will kill the rubber material. However,.a quality silicone based grease won't do any damage to the rubber. I use it on any rubber O-rings, seals & etc on various bike engines & etc. But for sway bar bushings, downside is that it attracts and holds road grit, turning the grease into sandpaper that accelerates bushing wear.

FMG- 10-4, I have used Dawn dish soap straight with good results as well. That is what I used on mine.

I would think Dry Teflon spray would be good as well, But then there is the cost of it..

My first swaybar bushings on Oldblue , I greased when I changed them, bad idea! They were dry and crumbly in a year, then I installed polyurethane 1” bushings , they are just oversized enough to make noise over speed bumps. I have replaced the OEM in the BlackSwan with OEM, installed clean and dry, no problems after 4 years.

I had no problem getting GM OEM bushings on dry. Grease kind of defeats the purpose of a bushing, friction being part of its job.

Good info.. The Dawn, like the soapy water dries out. So same end result.

I’ve never replaced front end parts, so now with 79k and front end getting clunkier... OEM not Moog?

Got a refund on my Sway bar links from O Reilly's and bought their better brand, Precision, was $36 more. Got them on and front end is nice and quiet again. First set of cheap links lasted about 6000 miles, I don't normally buy the cheapest but it was all they had at the time. What a poor quality part to have such a poor lifespan. Wish parts stores would stock the better stuff. The lowest price is almost never the best value.
