Independent Rear Suspension

Figured I'd show off my suspension setup.

I've spent the last couple years trying to get my HHR as low as possible. After multiple variations of suspension setups using the factory 2-link and even a straight axle, I decided on an independent rear suspension. This ended up being way more work than I expected, but totally worth it. Anyway here's some pics of the build.

First: how it looks now, with the rear layed out. Next step is to drop the front a few more inches.

The rear frame fabbed up, made to weld in to as many points of the uni-body as possible

As it sat, with the rear floor cut out and the frame welded in

The lower subframe that the suspension attaches to, and the hub plates for the disc brake conversion

DOM tubing for the upper control arms

The upper control arms mocked up

Welded the uppers, and installed adjustable heim joints

Lower control arms with recessed bagmounts

Everything mocked up

Bags installed and wheels on, finally off the ground

Sheet metal wheel tubs and notch cover , topped off with some spray on bed liner

That is the sickest panel ive ever seen, love the paint and shaved hatch. So I guess you aren't planning any camping trips with that huh? Love to see some running boards on that to fill out the bottom.

It has s top to drive? It has become more beautiful?

IRS is definitely the best stance, good job. Makes production setups like the camaro look like toothpicks.

nice paint or vinyl job. However, I'm directly opposed to stance vehicles. Period. I do OEM Chassis warranty at another OEM. It's not functional - at all. And, most people f--- up things elsewhere in the vehicle doing it. Whatever. (I would personally like to charge those buttholes for their screwups, but I can't.) No sympathy at all for any future issues you may have. You earned it.

It's like Lady Gaga's steak dress. All those steaks were wasted, because nobody ate them...

It's art, I guess, and I can't say anything else. Love it or hate it.
