Installing 2008 Cobalt SS Brembo kit on my 09 HHR SS

Hello all, just bought a complete set of 08 Cobalt SS Brembo kit (Minus the rears) and going to repaint them and install them. The rotors are aftermarket at 12.5" front and 11.5" rears. I will keep everyone updated and hopefully I wont run into any problems.

The only thing I have read is that the brake lines are too short, but some say that the brake lines would work fine. Can anyone shed some light on the situation?

I have heard the 2008 Brembo kit is the same as the 2009 kit that came on the HHR SS.

Thank you all for your help.

They should work fine. I helped a friend install Brembos on his HHR SS and he just used the standard lines. And yes, the Brembos were the same across the line.

Thanks Frenchy42 I'll keep posting pictures of the progress of the installation.

Will 2008 rear Cobalt SS Calipers work?

Bought a set of Brembo brakes off a 2008 Cobalt SS. The rear calipers are different than the HHR and was wondering if it will bolt right up with ours.

Thanks!

My HHR SS has the Brembos. The rear rotors are only about 10.5 inches. Since the rear calipers use a mounting bracket, you're going to need a different bracket than the stock one to use those larger rotors.

I don't see the rear brackets in the photo. Hope you got those special brackets when you got the whole setup.

Fwiw. A Brembo setup on the HHR is front calipers only. There were no rear Brembos on the factory option.

I'm not 100% sure if they fit or not, mmm trial and error, or double check the differences

I agree with George, if you have the brackets they should bolt up fine, but the rear discs on the HHR SS are smaller in diameter.

In this picture it appears they do have the mounting brackets just different due to the bigger diameter rotors

I merged the two threads

Thanks for all the input guys. I know the Brembo's are just the fronts, that's why I said "minus the rears".

Where would you get the mounting brackets?

Do your rear calipers look like the ones I posted?
Perhaps you already have the brackets

I'm going to update you with some pictures. I believe they do though.
