Love my HHR SS

Hi gang,
I just bought my 2nd hhr. This one is an 09 SS. I've never owned a turbo car before so this should be fun. I'm a mechanic by trade so most jobs aren't a big deal for me. Right now the car is all stock with the exception of a k&n air filter. I plan on doing a MagnaFlow exhaust soon. Along with the brembo front calipers and slotted rotors.
My main question is how can I improve the horrible torque steer this thing has? Even when I ran stock cars on dirt I didn't have to hold on like this. I've already checked the obvious, ball joints, rack, tie rods etc. All seems tight.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, Mike

to the forums, Mike!!

Your best improvement for torque steer is the TTR front engine mount. If you have a manual trans, TTR also has their STOP rotated transmission mounts. Here's a thread discussing the engine mount. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/hhr-...-review-40681/

I think TTR also has bushings for the stock auto trans mounts, as well as a great rear sway bar.

I seem to remember a TSB on the subject, but I can't find it.

Welcome to the site! Yep , TTR front engine mount, front and rear transmission mounts will calm things down in the wheel hop department, while your ordering, get a rear swaybar it'll really help with body roll in the corners!

Guess I should've clarified that. Mine is a 5 speed. Bought it with 79k on it. I was wondering about a rear sway bar. Is one on the rear from the factory? I haven't looked. Lol.

Yes, there is a rear sway bar, the TTR bar is in addition, and is a noticeable improvement, as well as a very easy job.

Just a note the LS and LT also have a factory swaybar of sorts in the rear axle beam

You can kinda see it depicted in the holes of the beam

The TTR bar bolts under the rear axle beam, it's the red shiny piece here
