The drop with 08 colbalt SS springs measured out at 1 inch.... measured from the fender to the lip of the rim.

Stock springs

Question

HHorange, that is a good looking car you have there. The fender protectors and the SS rims look sharp. A question if I may? How does the car ride now compared to before? I have been considering a set of the earlier supercharged Cobalt SS rear springs that are softer than yours but drop the rear. Our roads around here are like a 3rd world country after a carpet-bombing, and I don't want my car beat to death.....me either! ;-) God Bless, Marc

The most I have noticed is it seems to ride about the same maybe just tiny bit stiffer but not enough to even be sure I am not just being critical about the new springs. I went to the newer/stiffer 08 springs because I do at times pull a trailer...........

Thank You HHorange-

Sharp looking ride you have there, the springs look like they leveled it very nicely..

I have a Panel & am gonna put a hitch on later to pull my trailer, so maybe the later 08 Cobalt SS springs would do better for my use as well...

Appreciate the info & the pics. Really helps a lot..

I think I will be purchasing the HHR SS rear springs to put on my 2006 2LT. Would it be wise to swap out the rear shocks to HHR SS struts as well? Also, is there a "how to" for changing the suspension and springs?

HHorange-

Very informative link.. Thanks..(I saved it)..

I called local Chevy today & they wanted to know which 08 Cobalt SS rear springs I was interested in.......

They said there are 3 different option codes for them, JM4, J41, & JL9

Do you have a part # for the springs you got ??

SSguy-your dealer was looking at the wrong option codes. Those codes he gave you are for brakes. The SS springs are under option code FE5.That's the SS suspension code. The rear spring part # is 25821162(2008-2009 Cobalt SS).For the HHR SS it's #15938616(2008-2010).
