Lowering with GM parts
Don't make fun of me, but I read all 16 pages...and I'm getting thrown around like a rag doll, what I fear is what I'm about to purchase will be the wrong thing and I will have my HHR all jacked up and torn apart, and then look down and notice I got the wrong materials to do this the right way.
I have a 07 LS, I'm looking to get the maximum drop I possibly can get with ONLY GM parts, I do NOT want any GL springs or anything else, so for a 07, to achieve the biggest drop...do I want like 04/05 Cobalt SS springs all the way around?!?!?! If so...what kind of drop (total) am I looking at? In advance...thank for the help!!!

FROSTHHR07, I am sorry about that, but I have just leveled my car. I can only give advice on what I know. There are several combinations, and perhaps you are doing something no one else here has tried? I would be cautious, as you want it to handle well. The replacement Cobalt SS/SC springs turned out great in the rear of my car, but I have no way of knowing how other components would work. My true advice would be to try one component (as in rear springs, sway bar, front springs, shocks, etc.) at a time, and evaluate what each does to the handling. That way if it is negative you can quickly reverse it. If you change everything at once, you won't know what component did what, or how to fix it. If I hadn't just tried the rear springs alone, I would have sworn no single component could do that much good alone.

For the most drop I would suggest the 05-07 SS/SC set-up. Reported to be over 1 inch..
I can't tell you just how much tho, since I used the 08-09 SS/TC rear springs to level mine & still haul stuff..

I believe the largest drop is done with the SS/SC Springs. When the brother gets new struts and springs for his 2010 SS/TC I'll be using those. Since my stock front struts at 56,000 on SS/SC springs are starting to get bouncy, and the drop makes driving in the snow belt not so fun sometimes.
I just did this last week, good stuff! Cobalt SS struts, shocks and springs all around lowered it quite nicely, about an inch all round, the back is still a bit higher though. Put new tires on too, a few raved about Sumitomo HTR Z III’s, and I see why; never realized how loud those Firestones were. Aaaaaaand I put on EBC rotors and green stuff pads.
Corners nice and flat and is much more stable over the rough stuff; the brakes are still bedding in. Someone, sorry forgot your name, put up pics of changing rotors and stuts and springs out. Thanks
, this made everything a breeze. I took my time and did everything in about 4 hours.
Now to work on that lighted window switch mod.

I just installed the Cobalt SS/SC springs on my 07 LS and the results were 1-1/8 inch on the back and only 1/4 inch on the front. I was hoping for the 1 inch drop that others have posted on this thread. It wasn't too hard and it rides as good as it did stock. I'm looking for some front springs that will drop 1 inch now. Hopefully I can find front springs only because I'm happy with the back. Springs on all 4 corners were less than $40 each from GM.
