Well, I just picked up my Cobalt SS springs today. I will try and get them in tomorrow or the day after.

I understand what you guys are saying about the shocks vs springs. If it were a race car, I understand the argument. Most people (me included) us this as a grocery getter. The concern is not high on my list.

 

I agree 100% to do it right you need new struts...but they seem to be fine...for now.

 

I am pleased with the ride and handling of my hhr with cobalt SS rear springs. They are a little stiff but not bad at all. I only use it as a daily driver not a race car.

 

I am now at the stage of factory shocks and struts going bad. Any suggestions on what brand for rear shocks and front struts?

 

Don't know if you'll get much help here as theres not much of anything on the aftermarket side.If your non-SS then use the SS parts,otherwise everything Ive seen so far is a wallet breaker and purpose built( bags and coil overs)unless you like the run of the mill gramma Monroe shocks..Bout the only thing i could find common is the strut boots!!!! We in a world of hurt in this area...

Koni has adjustable struts and shocks for the Cobalt listed. Nothing listed for the HHR. They are expensive but might be worth looking into.

After much consideration of BAGS, COILOVERS or the different offerings of LOWERING SPRINGS, STRUTS and SHOCKS we chose EIBACH PRO SPRINGS with CHEVROLETS SS STRUTS and SHOCKS! Seemed to be the BEST Bang for your Buck Combo! Monroes offerings are Strut Cartredges which have to be installed in your old housings! Monroes cost was also double of Chevrolets SS offerings which we then took the money saved and purchased our Eibach Spring Kit! Heres a link for the Struts and Shocks we used! by the way, are all cobalt ss springs the same for all year models or will this work for only the 2008 - 2009 models?

 

Howdy All,
This is my first post. Thanks to everyone for all the helpful information. I'm hoping for some help in an idea I have with my springs. I recently bought a LT which was already lowered with Eibach springs all around. I was thinking about putting the stock springs back on the rear to give the car a slight pitch and drop in just the front. I was also hoping to put as wide a tire on the rear as possible to give it a wide profile stance. I'm sure this idea will create all manner of concerns that I would'nt even beging to think of. Anyone have any input on an idea about this concept? Thanks for any help.
