Lowest i can safely go without bottoming out, ever?

Lowest i can safely go without bottoming out, ever?

I want to know the lowest i can drop the hhr without the tires rubbing on anything if i am on the freeway and there is a bump or something

That's a tough question to answer..

While here & there may be 2 different answers.. Plus if you haul people & or stuff etc.. & GMC did not produce the hhr.

Need more specifics.. Also the model type of the hhr would help...

And how big the bump is..

It's best to stick with a set of springs that others here have documented as working well for them. Any suspension will bottom out under the right (or is it wrong?) circumstances. Much depends on how "streetable" you want to go.

i have scraped the front bumper on the ground leaving somewhat steep driveways with the stock suspension, so lowering it will only make it worse....so how low? i probably wont change anything on mine.

Personal opinion here. I drive mine daily and to lower the entire car would not be practical. If I pull up to far the bumper will hit most curbs and stoppers and like what was just said it will hit in steep driveways as well. So im lowering the back with cobalt ss springs. But everyone has there own opinion. I know many people who have lowered their hhr's.

I bottomed out on my first speedbump this morning. I'd say that if you have concerns about bottoming out, do as Swerv has mentioned and just drop the rear to even out the stance. I've got mine dropped about 2" in the front and 3" in the rear using a Canuck Motorsports Cobalt SS drop kit and it's pretty low...I have to go super slow over speed bumps and into driveways otherwise I'm bottoming out.

I will say that I love the stance of an all lowered hhr. But like chefhhr said if you dont mind going slow over bumps, etc. then id say do it.

Hey chefhhr. How are those grandsport stripes? Are those the ones off Ebay?

Pedders make a spring that lowers you in the front 1 inch and 1-1/2 in the rear, if you have an SS.

Hand made them using plasti dip. I taped it off and painted with the plasti dip. Super easy to do. Im thinking about loosing them altogether. If I decide to keep them, I'm going to have them redone at a vinyl shop.
