Need help
I was wondering, i recently bought my 2.4 hhr and was looking for some suggestoins on what i should do to it, im already lowering it and adding a rear sway bar i need more suggestions on what else i should do. please and thank you.
Welcome aboard again
Sounds Like you have the HHR bug not sure if there is a cure.
I am heavily into building Collecting Racing and showing Older classic muscle cars streetrods etc.
For some reason the HHR really catches my attention they are to me modern day hot rods.
There are a ton of mods for you to do and I am sure you will be getting a lot of great suggestions posted up.
I think one of the best mods I liked and did on my 2007 2.4L was to change the front grille.
I did the 3 bar conversion, Here is the link for the conversion

Basically you take the grille out use a die grinder or dremel tool and cut out tow bars.
then you install the steel mesh for gutters found at lowes or home depot or a local hardware store. This is the mesh that is used to go over the top of gutters to keep leaves out.
The whole mod cost me about $10.00 and I went ahead and installe the same mesh and made my own lower grille to match.
Or you could buy another grille.
here is a link with pictures of different options on the grille.

I guess my best suggestion is to have fun with it.

IF you had a harbor freight near ya you would be all set.
As far as tools they are very minimal
sometimes people will sell the 3 bars done
If you could get a used one you could take your time modifying it then just bolt it on when done and save the regualar one.
what year is you HHR?

Welcome. I'm pretty new to the HHR but not to the automotive industry. I've had/built many cars from old school rods to weekend dragers to my last project which was my first 4-banger. I have no notions to do much to this other than the basic "bolt-ons" which will include the usual intake/exhaust work to help "Chubbs" breath better and some minor suspension work since these things have a habbit of pushing through every turn given the way they sit high in the rear.
Good luck and read away on the forum. I've spent almost a month going through post after post after thread after thread researching what I want to do. It can get annoying and quite silly reading everything but eventually one post will have the correct information you desire.....
