Yes, I did clean off the rotors with acetone to remove the oil film that the manufacture had put on to prevent rusting while in the packaging. The hhr has 130 000kms on it now so I'll either take it to a shop or see if I can figure out what is causing the shudder.

AND, adjust the rear brakes? That is more than likely the cause.

I'll start with the rear brake adjustment and see (feel) what happens, Thanks for the advise.

Agreed - I let my rear brake adjustments go too long, and tightening them up to 3 or 4 clicks made a world of difference.

Hoping to do it this weekend, I can pull the handle up to 6 clicks (oops!). This may be a dumb question but is there a rear disc brake kit for the HHR?

I picked up a new set of rear brake shoes on the way home and installed them, just got back from a test ride and what a difference! Thanks again for the input.
