So, no comment on my previous post ? Sometimes I wonder why I even bother to try and help out.

Well George, it's because you are a helpful person! I have been wanting to check your noise / rattle suggestion on Oldblue but well health gets in the way, but the OP should have responded!

Look at you guys bickering over this stuff. Yes, post #3 ended up being the winner. I just wanted to try the easier things first.

I checked and my rear fascia was fine. The prev owner welded up a custom hitch and ran it through the rear fascia, so the Reese hitch holds up the fascia just fine. I would never tow with the SS, but it works nice for our bike rack...

Thanks again!

I replaced the hubs yesterday, and all is quiet now in the rear. This was not a difficult job. It took about 2 hours to do both, without a lift. My impact gun was fouled up because of the cold, too, so no air tools, either. Other than some shoulder stiffness, all is well.

And, yeah they are the Chinese ones, so let's hope they last.

Well, there's still some noise from in back, so I am going to need to do some more digging. The wheel bearing was the main culprit, but there is something else still. Maybe if it stays warm enough this weekend, I can crawl under there and see what I can see. Something sounds loose...

In the process of rotating my tires yesterday, I was poking around trying to find something to finally address this (and the weather's well above freezing...). I think I might have found something. One of the "pads" between the top of the spring and the top mount was about halfway down the spring. My thought is that I might have finally found the cause of my rattle. That could be a spring-to-top mount noise after all.

I need to figure out where to get replacements, and I'll just replace them. After 109K miles in the Salt Belt, it can't hurt. I will follow up once I get it done.

GM dealer should be able to get them. I think they are called isolators. May be listed in th common parts thread.

Thanks. I am in the midst of other stuff again, but I was thinking along those lines.
