Rear sway bars - SS, Progressive?

Hi Folks, Forgive my ignorance, but does an HHR SS have a bolt-on rear sway bar in addition to the twist rear axle beam setup? If there is an SS bar, is it weaker than the Progressive bar? In aftermarket, is the Progressive bar the weakest of the bunch? Many thanks, and God Bless, Marc

The SS does not have one stock if that is what you are asking....they are the same as all the other HHR's so all the aftermarket sway bars fit the SS the same.

Progressive makes a 22mm bar while TT has a 27mm(?) I believe...Most makers have bars of various dia to met specific setups...that is if they are good.

TTR had a 25.4mm but its showing discontinued/out of stock on their website. They're apparently developing an adjustable bar now

True, but you can still find them used on the cobalt site, for much less money too..

& the "Hard-Core Bar" doesn't tuck up into the rear axle as well either...

I'd say the mildest one would be the Pro-Tech (at least it's the thinnest OD bar made).

It's only four bolts to install in 10-15 minutes.

I installed my TTR bar a couple weeks ago. It was very simple! It took longer to jack the damn car up and get it on jack-stands than it did to install the sway bar. There are excellent instructions posted by "405HP_Z06" here: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...&postcount=141

(thanks 405HP_Z06)!!!

The sway-bar is a great mod! Took the SS on the twisty, recently paved logging road from Mesachie Lake to Port Renfrew on the weekend. Had an absolute blast through all the twisty corners!!
