Replacement struts

OK.. Its been a while since I have been on here.. new job, new stuff to do...
the 2010 is getting long in the tooth (97k) and I have yet to do the struts... I do believe it is WAY past the time and could use a little info...
1) what is a good replacement? been looking at the KYB (I want maintain factory or better ride)
2) did Monroe ever clean up the problems they where having with the quick struts and would there be advantage of using them over the KYB? other than the obvious?
I have a use doing coil overs or going the extreme... just want function and long life..

I plan on doing them myself in my driveway... I have all the tools you could think of except the spring compressor (i can rent it)...

welcome back!!!

Just give the search tool a try and look for KYB - there are lots of opinions on them - mostly favorable.

Same for Monroe quick struts - and yup, the problems have been resolved with them.

Get "complete Struts" and you won't need a spring compressor, compressors can be "borrowed" from Advance/Zone/O'Reilly.

if you have lowering springs then yeah a spring compressor and KYB's if not lowered then Monroe quic struts are just the ticket, and check your lower control arm bushings as well as the sway bar end links! while your at it

Installed KYBs a couple of years ago on my little Panel and the ride is still great. I will replace with the same when time comes.

You have an LT so I wouldn't use Monroe.....they do not match the ride and handling of the OEM's. KYB is your best bet, IMO.

The Monroe quick struts I have seem stiffer than the ones they replaced, don't know if that was because the old ones were worn out or softer. 2011 LT.

if you dont go with quickstruts..then make sure (like OldBlue said) check sway bar links and control arm bushings AND make sure to change the strut mounts/bearings!! :)
