soltice/skye wheels

anyone out there know if the wheels off Soltice or Skye work well on the HHR?

There are a few members with Solstice Wheels on their HHR.

From what I remember from reading other posts, you may need a set of 7mm spacers. The wheels have a larger offset, meaning they are pushed outwards and may contact the fenders.

Just curious, but if they have larger offset, why add + 7mm spacers ?
Do they not clear in-board otherwise ?

An offset of zero means the mounting surface of the wheel is on the centerline. A postive offset means the mounting surface is more toward the outside of the wheel, which brings the edge inwards. The stock HHR wheels are 42mm offset, while the solstice wheels are 55mm. That would mean the wheels might interfere on the inner side and would be farther in under the fender. Adding a spacer would correct this.
Play with this calculator a bit and you will see: http://www.bigcustomwheels.com/info_specs.jsp

Mikelofty has a set of Solstices on his, and they look darn sweet. Don't know if spacers are employed though.

thanks Steve....I have these 18" Sky rims.... I did put a pair of 5mm spacers on the rears- but that was a cosmetic choice. They fit my lowered 09 with no contact issues!

Thumbs up

Mike-

Your rims look sharp, especially on your lowered ride..

I don't want to go to 18" rims on my car, but I think those Solstice wheels are the best looking rims on an HHR. It's "the look" in my book. God Bless, Marc

If I ever get new wheels for my Solstice I will put the factory wheels on my HHR.
